Leadership Team:
Pointe Automotive
David R. Melton
Managing Principal
As Managing Principal of Pointe Automotive, I serve as an Automotive Capital Advisor to owners of auto dealerships and collision centers across the U.S. My focus is on helping clients unlock, protect, and deploy capital strategically—whether they are preparing for a transaction, planning a succession, or optimizing dealership real estate as part of a broader investment strategy.
With more than 40 years of experience in the automotive industry, including serving as a dealership COO, I bring a firsthand operational perspective to every advisory engagement. I have navigated the same ownership and transition challenges my clients face, allowing me to provide clear, practical guidance during high-stakes capital and ownership decisions.
My advisory work centers on three core areas:
M&A Advisory Services: Strategic sales, acquisitions, recapitalizations, and partner exits—ensuring business operations and real estate are aligned to maximize overall deal value.
Succession & Ownership Planning: Customized, tax-aware transition strategies for family succession, management buyouts, or third-party sales.
Automotive Real Estate & Investment Advisory: Sale-leasebacks, real estate bifurcation, and disposition strategies designed to unlock equity while maintaining operational control.
I work closely with each client’s CPA, attorney, and advisors to coordinate capital strategy well in advance of closing—ensuring disciplined execution and that no value is left on the table.
